The marriage license for each intending spouse is issued separately by the Municipality of their last residence.
- Application (application forms are provided by the Municipality)
- Photocopy of the income tax declaration (Ε1) as proof of residence.
- Birth certificate
- Solemn Declaration of L. 1599/86 stating:
a. That there is no impediment for the person concerned to get married in accordance with the articles 1350, 1351, 1352, 1354, 1356, 1357, 1360
b. That the person concerned is a resident of the Municipality of Platanias
c. Whether it is their first or second marriage etc. (Solemn declarations are provided by the Municipality)
-For minors (under 18 years of age): A judicial decision is required.
-For divorced: Dissolution of marriage by the registry office where the marriage has been declared.
-For widows/widowers: Death Certificate
- Publication of marriage announcement (article 1369) in a local newspaper:The text of the announcement must include the following information :
Each intending spouse’s full name, date of birth, place of residence and the Municipality where the wedding ceremony is to be held. - Photocopy of the identity card
- Fee stamp € 15
Τhe person concerned has to submit the supporting documents and receive the license in person displaying their identity card.
The license is issued within 7 working days and is valid for 6 months.
The wedding ceremony can take place in any Municipality the intending spouses wish.
